Intuition

Une fonction constante est une fonction qui donne toujours le même nombre, quel que soit le nombre en entrée. Par exemple, la fonction f:R→Rf:\R \rightarrow \R définie comme f(x)=5f(x)=5 pour tout xx, est la fonction constante égale à 55.

Définition formelle

Soient AA et BB deux ensembles. Une fonction f:A→Bf:A\rightarrow B est dite constante s’il existe un élément bb de BB tel que, pour tout élément aa de AA, on ait f(a)=bf(a)=b.
