Montrons que A∪BA\cup B est connexe par arcs.
Soit (a,b)∈A×B(a,b)\in A\times B.
On sait que AA et BB sont non disjoints donc il existe c∈A∩Bc \in A \cap B.
Or AA est connexe par arcs, donc
∃γ1∈C([0,1],E) tel que γ1(0)=a et γ1(1)=c.\exists \gamma_{1} \in C([0,1],E) \text{ tel que } \gamma_{1}(0)=a \text{ et } \gamma_{1}(1)=c.De même, BB est connexe par arcs donc
∃γ2∈C([0,1],E) tel que γ2(0)=c et γ2(1)=b.\exists \gamma_{2} \in C([0,1],E) \text{ tel que } \gamma_{2}(0)=c \text{ et } \gamma_{2}(1)=b.

Posons
γ(x)=γ1∗γ2(x)={γ1(2x)si x∈[0,12],γ2(x)si x∈[12,1].\gamma(x)= \gamma_{1}*\gamma_{2} (x)=\left\{ \begin{array}{ll} \gamma_1(2x) & \text{si } x\in [0,\frac{1}{2}],\\[0.3em] \gamma_2(x) & \text{si } x\in [\frac{1}{2},1]. \end{array} \right.Donc pour tout (a,b)∈A×B(a,b)\in A\times B, on a trouvé un chemin γ\gamma continue sur [0,1][0,1] tel que γ(0)=a\gamma(0)=a et γ(1)=b\gamma(1)=b.
D’où A∪BA\cup B est connexe par arcs.
