The interior int(A)\operatorname{int}(A) of a subset AA of a topological space XX is the largest open set contained in AA.
It can be shown that it is the union of all open sets contained in AA :
int(A)={UX:U open, UA}\operatorname{int}(A)=\bigcup\{U \subseteq X: U \text { open, } U \subseteq A\}
