Path in a space

A path in a topological space $X$ is a continuous map
$$\gamma:[0,1]\rightarrow X.$$

Remarks

• $\gamma(0)$ and $\gamma(1)$ are called the endpoints of $\gamma$.
• If $\gamma(0)=\gamma(1)$, $\gamma$ is called a loop.
