Définition générale :

Soit K\mathbb{K} un corps.

  • Cas endomorphisme:
    Soit EE un un K\mathbb{K}-ev, fL(E)f\in \mathcal{L}(E) un endomorphisme. Soit vE{0}v\in E\setminus\{0\}.
    On dit que vv est un vecteur propre de ff lorsque :
    λK  tel que  f(v)=λv.\exists \lambda \in\mathbb{K} \;\text{tel que}\; f(v)=\lambda v .
  • Cas matricielle:
    Soit AMn(K)A\in \mathcal{M}_n(\mathbb{K}), Soit vE{0}v \in E\setminus\{0\}.
    On dit que vv est un vecteur propre de AA lorsque :
    λK  tel que  Av=λv.\exists \lambda \in \mathbb{K} \;\text{tel que}\; Av=\lambda v.Vocabulaire:\textbf{Vocabulaire:}
    On dit alors que λ\lambda est la valeur propre associée à vv.
