Are the following functions polynomials in xx?

  • PP is a polynomial (of degree 11).
  • QQ is not a polynomial, because it involves a fraction where the denominator is a polynomial, which cannot be simplified to something like xkx^{k}. By the way, QQ is called a rational function.
  • RR is not a polynomial, because it involves a square root.
  • ff is a polynomial (of degree 55).
