Montrons que
B=0ouBGLn(R).B=0\qquad\text{ou}\qquad B\in\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{R}).Si B=0B=0, alors BA=0BA=0 pour toute AA. Si BB est inversible, l’égalité AB=0AB=0 donne A=ABB1=0A=ABB^{-1}=0, donc BA=0BA=0.

Montrons qu’aucune autre ne convient.
Supposons BB non nulle et non inversible, et posons r=rgBr=\operatorname{rg}B, de sorte que 1rn11\leqslant r\leqslant n-1. Notons V=ImBV=\operatorname{Im}B et W=kerBW=\ker B.
