En passant l’équation à la puissance pZp\in\Z, on trouve exp(pA)=exp(pB)\exp(pA)=\exp(pB).
Maintenant, AA est diagonalisable, ainsi A=PDP1A=PDP^{-1} donc exp(pA)=Pexp(pD)P1\exp(pA)=P\exp(pD)P^{-1} et donc l’unique racine qq-ème diagonale de exp(pD)\exp(pD) possédant les valeurs propres exp(pqλ),λSp(A)\exp(\frac{p}{q}\lambda),\lambda\in\mathcal{S}p(A). Ainsi exp(pqA)\exp(\frac{p}{q}A) est l’unique racine qq-ème de exp(pA)\exp(pA) possédant ces valeurs propres.
On a défini la racine qq-ème de manière unique donc on a l’égalité exp(pqA)=exp(pqB)\exp(\frac{p}{q}A)=\exp(\frac{p}{q}B) étant donné qu’on peut faire le même raisonnement pour BB.

Finalement, les fonctions texp(tA)t\longmapsto \exp(tA) et texp(tB)t\longmapsto\exp(tB) coïncident sur Q\mathbb{Q} et sont continues donc elles coïncident partout sur R\R. Finalement on a l’égalité exp(tA)=exp(tB)\exp(tA)=\exp(tB) que l’on dérive en 00 pour trouver A=BA=B.
