Pour une matrice A∈Mm,n(C)A \in \mathcal{M}_{m,n}(\C), on note A∗A^{*} la matrice adjointe de AA définie par A∗=AˉTA^{*} = \bar{A}^{T} où l’on conjugue tous les coefficients puis on transpose. On appelle parfois l’opération ∗* la transconjuguée.

En une phrase : on ne change pas la diagonale d’une matrice en la transposant, donc le calcul de la trace de la transconjuguée se ramène à conjuguer la trace.
