Une homotopie entre deux application continues f,g:X→Yf,g:X \rightarrow Y est une application continue
H:[0,1]×X→YH:[0,1]\times X\rightarrow Ytelle que H(0,x)=f(x)H(0,x)=f(x) et H(1,x)=g(x)H(1,x)=g(x).

Remarques
  • Si une telle homotopie existe, alors on dit que ff et gg sont homotopes.
  • La convention H:X×[0,1]→YH:X\times [0,1]\rightarrow Y est également courante.
