La fonction de l’indication est bien nn-linéaire car elle est linéaire par rapport à chacune de ses variables. Aussi elle est alternée car inverser v1v_1 et v2v_2 (le raisonnement sera le même pour viv_i et vj,ijv_j, i\neq j) nous rajoute un 1-1 pour tous les termes d’indice i3i\geqslant 3 de la somme (ces derniers ne dépendant pas de ff, on ne fait qu’utiliser les propriétés du déterminant), et les deux premiers termes vont s’échanger. En effet, on trouve:
detB(f(v2),v1,,vn)+detB(v2,f(v1),,vn)=detB(v1,f(v2),,vn)detB(f(v1),v2,,vn)\det_{\mathcal{B}}(f(v_2),v_1,\dots,v_n)+\det_{\mathcal{B}}(v_2,f(v_1),\dots,v_n)=-\det_{\mathcal{B}}(v_1,f(v_2),\dots,v_n)-\det_{\mathcal{B}}(f(v_1),v_2,\dots,v_n)Ce qui est exactement ce qu’on avait avant d’avoir inversé v1v_1 et v2v_2 au signe près, donc on est bon !

Ainsi cette forme se doit d’être proportionnelle à la fonction detB\det_{\mathcal{B}}, base de l’ensemble des formes nn-linéaires alternées en dimension nn. Le coefficient de proportionnalité pouvant se trouver en considérant (v1,,vn)=(e1,,en)(v_1,\dots,v_n)=(e_1,\dots,e_n) et en prenant f(ej):=i=1nai,jeif(e_j):=\sum_{i=1}^na_{i,j}e_i.

On trouve alors que le coefficient de proportionnalité est la somme des ai,ia_{i,i}, soit la trace de ff.
