Une fonction arithmétique ff est dite multiplicative lorsque, pour tous a,bNa, b \in \N^{*} copremiers, on a
f(ab)=f(a)f(b).f(ab) = f(a)f(b).Si l’on peut se passer de l’hypothèse de coprimalité, on dit que ff est totalement multiplicative.

Le produit de convolution de Dirichlet de deux fonctions multiplicatives est également multiplicatif.
