∥∑k=0nakXk∥=∑k=0n∣ak∣.\left\|\sum_{k=0}^{n} a_kX^k \right\| =\sum_{k=0}^{n}|a_k|.Considérons l’ensemble A={Xn,n∈N}A= \{X^n, n\in \mathbb N\}.

Alors
    ∀ε>0,∃m∈N,∣∣P−Xm∣∣=∑k=0k≠m+∞∣ak∣+∣am−1∣≤ε\forall \varepsilon>0, \exists m\in\mathbb{N}, ||P-X^{m}||=\sum_{\substack{k=0\\k\neq m}}^{+\infty}|a_{k}|+|a_{m}-1|\leq \varepsilonEn prenant ε\varepsilon assez petit (plus petit que tout ∣ak∣|a_{k}| qui aurait la mauvaise idée d’être non nul) on a ∀k≠m,ak=0\forall k\neq m,a_{k}=0 puis am=1a_{m}=1 donc P=Xm∈A.P=X^{m}\in A.
