Définition intuitive

Une fonction vectorielle est une fonction qui associe à chaque réel un vecteur. Autrement dit, au lieu d’associer un unique nombre à chaque valeur de la variable, elle associe plusieurs composantes regroupées dans un vecteur.

Définition formelle

Soit II un intervalle de R\mathbb R et soit p∈N∗p\in\mathbb N^*. Une application
f:I⟶Rpf : I \longrightarrow \mathbb R^pest appelée une fonction vectorielle.

Si
f=(f1,…,fp),f=(f_1,\dots,f_p),alors les applications
f1,…,fp:I⟶Rf_1,\dots,f_p : I \longrightarrow \mathbb Rsont appelées les fonctions composantes de ff.
